Sunshine Target Premiere League Title

Sunshine Stars have said they will not give up title chase to Premier League leaders Enyimba.

Sunshine are currently second in the league with 53 points after 31 matches. They are five points behind Enyimba, who have 58 points.

The Akure side will play third-placed Warri Wolves on Sunday as they pursue their goal. The media officer of the club, Wahab Bankole, told our correspondent on Tuesday that the team would fight until the last day of the league for the title.

He said, “After the setback of consecutive losses we suffered in the last weeks, we bounced back with a win away against Kwara United before we beat Abia Warriors on Sunday.

“The players and the coaching staff are all working harder to ensure we realise this goal which has beenwith us since the beginning of the season.“It was hard seeing us dropping points both at home and away, which saw us drop from first to fourth.

But we are getting back steadily to the first position in the table. It won’t be easy, but we will work harder to avoid dropping more points at home.”Bankole commended the fans for their patience during the period Sunshine lost matches.

He said, “Losing matches isn’t a good thing but we thank our fans for the support they gave us during those trying times.

We will not disappoint them as we work together for the achievement of the club’s goals.”
