Nigerians Blast Saraki For Lying That He Was Not Stoned

Nigerians have hit back at Nigeria’s Senate President, Bukola Saraki, for lying that he was not stoned at Thursday’s Eid prayer in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Shortly, after Saraki dismissed reports that he was stoned, video evidences emerged that there was an assault on him and they were published online to counter Saraki’s claim.

In a statement titled: “Senate President not attacked”Saraki noted that there was a protest over non-payment of local government employees but that he was not stoned.

Nigerians have however reacted angrily to what many has described as ‘lies’ by Nigeria’s number three man. They took to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their displeasure.

One Babakay wrote: “Liar, liar”, the beginning of the end,” in a reaction to Saraki’s claims that he was notstoned.Another Shehu wrote: “This denial is too cheap. The prayer program was brought to an end by the crowd shouting OLE! OLE!! OLE!!! Bukola was actually smuggled out Yidi ground by security men who fired several canisters of teargas to escape the rampaging youth. Bukola is indeed finished.

”ID from UK said: “Another lie again by a very dishonest man!, forgotten that this is 21st century at least the incident is backed up by a live video coverage. The earlier this guy realise that the end is near, the better for him as the hand writing for him toleave is clearly on the wall.

He should just accept his faith once and for all and quit politics for good.”“I agree. Saraki please shut up and stop trying to save face. The video does not lie. Sahara Reporters have video of people throwing rocks and water at your car.

You will eventually get impeached if you don’t step down soon. it is the end of the road corrupt politician. I guess i shouldn’t say that because according to the law you are innocent until proven guilty which it will be very hard for you to prove innocent in 13 charges.

Your case is you were not previously notified before being taken to tribunal.Did you notify the tribunal when you didn’t declare the assets.

You have no case. look for another reason or just step down and save yourself the embarrassment,” LO said.

Meanwhile the police is yet to receive the bench warrant to effect the official’s arrest. The warrant might be issued on Monday, it has been learnt.

A source disclosed:“I think the long session of the tribunal on Friday accounted for the delay in making the warrant available to the police.

Evil People Have Polluted My Office And It Needs Cleansing Before I Enter-Lagos PDP Chairman

Tunji Shelle, the chairman of the Lagos chapter of the  Peoples Democratic Party, says he will not step foot into his office at the state secretariat of the party, till his tenure ends in March 2016.

Shelle said inan interview with Punch, that evil people have polluted his office, hence his refusal to make use of it.The chairman said he would rather use other offices in the secretariat, as opposed to his personal office space. He was quoted to have said:“I have taken over the secretariat. I am incharge till March next year and nothing will change that.

What I have decided to do is not to enter the office, which they have already polluted. That place needs sanctification; it needs cleansing because evil people have stepped into that office.

There are other offices in the secretariat that I can use.“I have opened up the place but I won’t step inside. Their ghosts will continue to haunt them. I don’t know why people don’t respect the institution that gives them the opportunity to serve. I have taken over my office.

“They (faction) gained access to the office with the help of somebody outside the party. Otherwise, they have no cause to have broken into our office and remain there.“If somebody comes into the party to destroy it for selfish interests or becausethey are being used by an individual, whose stock in trade is to come and destroy the party, they won’t have their way.

I have a few months to the end of my tenure. I will continue to do what the party expects me to do. I will not look back or be distracted or be intimidated.”

BokoHaram No Longer Has The Capacity To Occupy North-East-President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday said that the fight against corruption is aimed at saving the soul of the nation.

Buhari who was represented by Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, made this statement at the second plenary meeting of Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), near Port Harcourt. He said:“ Our fight against corruption is not just a battle of virtue and righteousness in our land, but it is a fight for the soul and substance of our nation.“ Corruption in our country is endemic and it constitutes a parallel system,“ he said. According to the President, corruption has made a potentially prosperous country struggle to feed and provide jobs for its people.

“ Hundreds of thousands of infants and maternal mortality statistics, hundreds of thousands deaths from communicable diseases are traceable to the greed and corruption of a few,“ he said. Buhari urged Nigerians to think of resuscitating the nation`s economy because two-thirds of Nigerians lived in extreme poverty.

“They must be helped, first to survive, and then, fully participate in the economy of the nation. “Consequently, we must create tenets for the very poor and vulnerable, while ensuring that social spending also resurrects investments in the economy.

“We must invest substantially in relevant education; teachers training and vocational and entrepreneurial training,“ Buhari said. The President said a way out, was for all Nigerians toinvest in infrastructure and all crucial components in the medium and long term means of diversifying the economy.

He continued by saying:“Meanwhile, we must block all leakages and improve on our revenue base,“ he said. On insurgency, Buhari said Boko Haram had been weakened and lacked the strength to occupy the North-East zone or any part ofthe country.

He also said the military was using local intelligence to thwart efforts of Boko Haram to regroup in the North-East or any part of the country. He said:“On security, we are on course to militarily route Boko Haram and make them incapable of taking overany territory. “Suicide bombings on some parts of theNorth- East are desperate acts of terrorists to create a sense that they are still in play.

“But, with vigilance and local intelligence, we will make these cowardly acts practically impossible,“ he said. Earlier, the President of CBCN, Most Rev.
Ignatius Kaigama, said that the new administration inthe country would recover the country`s wasted opportunities.Kaigama, who is the Archbishop of Jos, said the church will continue to pray for Nigeria.

He said:“The tendency to promote, defend, and protect narrow personal economic, regional and religious interests have been responsible for our unstable national journey of one step forward and many steps backward,“ he said Kaigama expressed optimism that the new administration would achieve positive change and recover wasted opportunities.

Utomi,Oyinlola,Falana,Odimegwu and Others Undergo DSS Screening

There are strong indications that the Department of State Service, (DSS) has completed a screening process for some of the ministerial nominees to make up the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Among the list of those who were said to have been screened by the DSS are, former presidential candidate, Prof. Pat Utomi, Femi Falana (SAN), a former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola,a former finance commissioner in Lagos State, Mr. Wale Edun and Former Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Limited, Mr. Festus Odimegwu.

Others in the list are, Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Chief of Army, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazu (retd.); an former chief executive of the Federal Inland Revenue, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okaru;.Vanguard gathered from a source very close to the presidency who pleaded anonymity that the aforementioned nominees had appeared before the DSS for their screening at the weekend.

However, the nominees are yet to give any confirmation on the supposed screening which may not be far-fetched from the fact that appointments ofthis nature are treated cautiously in the official circle.

It was gathered that no fewer than 20 nominees had been so far screened by the DSS operatives since theexercise started.Recall that the President had indicated in a chat withjournalists in Accra, Ghana, on Monday that he would keep his promise of announcing names of his ministers this month.

Our source revealed that the screening process by the DSS involved conducting background checks on the careers of the nominees and operatives were also checking for records of the nominees with anti-graft and security agencies.

Radio Biafra’s frequency cannot be jammed-Abia State Commisioner Explains Why

The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Mr. Joshak Habila, yesterday disclosed that the command was relying on members of the public for information on the exact location of the pirate radio station, Radio Biafra.

This was as he explained that what is keeping the police from jamming signals of the radio station is because there is an agency of the Federal Government that is responsible for blocking frequencies of illegal radio stations.

Joshak, who was speaking in Umuahia, the state capital, noted that the police alone could not track down the radio station without useful information from members of the public.According to him, “There are those responsible for tracking down operators of unapproved radio frequencies.

Police do have some roles to play but I don’t think the police are the ones that will be able to jam the frequency.“There is an agency of government responsible for that. I think members of the public have a better role to play in volunteering information to security agencies to clamp down on the radio station.

“I think it is the duty of everyone to help trace them because if they exist they don’t exist in the blues. They exist among members of the public. Thus, it is those who reside around here that should be able to volunteer information.

.“The indigenous people of Biafra are said to be the people operating the Radio Biafra. We are gathering information but you should know that they are subversive and have also spoken against constituted authorities”.Joshak further described the activities of the guerrillaradio as “a very big issue to be decided by the Inspector General of Police,” stressing that the law was very clear about those who engaged in subversive activities to run down a nation and how they should be handled under the justice system.

Radio Biafra, which broadcasts on the FM frequency band, has continued to freely operate despite recent claims by the Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, that the station’s frequency has been jammed.

Signals of the pirate radio station are said to be received in states of the Southeast extending to Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
